CHT 131 Introduction to Cheminformatic (3 Credits)
This course trains students to use the computer as a scientific instrument and publication tool within the realm of cheminformatics. Students will explore new and familiar software suites to collect and analyze chemical data and learn to format and present chemical structures in vector format for scientific communication. Students will be introduced to Python as a computational tool, used for both calculating and scripting tasks in data analysis. Concepts covered will include basic introduction to molecular computational chemistry, geometry optimization and reaction modeling, and applications for cheminformatics in fields such as drug discovery, materials science, and chemical research.
Pre-requisites: (Write Placer Essay with a score of 1 and Reading (Next-Gen) with a score of 200) or ENG 101
Co-requisites: CHM 101
CHT 132 Technical Chemistry-Calculatio (3 Credits)
This course offers an in-depth exploration of technical chemistry, emphasizing both qualitative and quantitative analytical methods. Students will develop proficiency in fundamental and modern laboratory techniques, including filtration, viscosity, gravimetric analysis, and colorimetry; while strengthening their skills in chemical calculations and data interpretation. Special attention will be given to error analysis, sample preparation, and the use of statistical and computational tools to enhance accuracy, precision, and reliability of results. Practical applications will extend to real-world scenarios across environmental monitoring, pharmaceutical quality control, and food industry analysis, equipping students with the analytical competence necessary for professional and research settings.

CHT 133 Instrumental methods (3 Credits)
This course offers an in-depth exploration of modern analytical instrumentation procedures commonly used in chemical analysis. Students will gain a thorough understanding of the principles, components, and functions of a wide range of analytical instruments, including but not limited to spectroscopy, chromatography, and electrochemical analysis tools. The course is designed to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience through a combination of engaging lectures, hands-on laboratory experiments, and structured technical report writing. Emphasis is placed on developing critical skills such as selecting appropriate analytical methods for specific applications, operating complex instrumentation with precision, troubleshooting common issues, and interpreting experimental data accurately.
